      1512.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  Protecting Apparatus Used for Gas Reactions.  British Patent 317, 996.  Aug. 29. 1928. Chem. Age. 1929. p. 294; Chem. Abs., vol. 24. 1930, p. 2015.

In carrying out reactions with gases which as H2, CO, or H2S, which attack the material of the apparatus, a small quantity of an inert material that remains liquid (such as paraffin added to a middle oil to be hydrogenated) is introduced so that it forms a protective film on the surface of the apparatus.  The process may be applied to the synthesis of alcohol.
