      1507.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Production of Oxygenated Organic Compounds.]  German Patent Appl. I 72,948.  OZ 13,599. filed Aug. 11. 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 168. frames 7,084-7,090: PB 68,480: TOM Reel 36. bag 3,454. item 21: Meyer Transl. PC-S-V, Oxo, vol. 1. chap. 19. 1948. p. 47.

In producing oxygenated organic compounds, especially aldehydes or ketones or their hydrogenation products, through the reaction of CO and H2 with olefins in presence of metals of group 8, the gas mixture, and desirably also the liquid reaction products, are freed from compounds of the catalyst metal by washing the gases leaving the reactor with liquids that are solvents for metal carbonyls, such as the liquid olefinc raw materials of the process.  The washing may be done in 2 steps; 1st. with the fresh olefinic raw material and then by adsorption with dilute HNO2 or other oxidizing agents.  After washing, the washing liquid as well as the washed gas are used in the process.
