      1506.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Production of Oxygenated Organic Compounds.]  German Patent Appl. I 72,947.  OZ 13,597. filed Aug. 11, 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 168. frames 7,078-7,081: PB 68,478: TOM Reel 36. bag 3,454. item 21; Meyer Transl. PC-S-V. Oxo, vol. 1. chap. 18, 1948. p. 45.

In producing oxygenated organic compounds by reacting CO and H2 with olefins at raised temperature and pressure (180º-250º and 250 atm.), in the presence of catalysts with subsequent hydrogenation of the products, use is made of raw materials, which are contaminated with S, and of metals of group S as catalysts.  For the subsequent hydrogenation, S-resistant catalysts such as Ni-W sulfides are used at about 160º-250º and 200-220 atm.
