      1477.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Producing Oxygenated Organic Compounds From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.]  German Patent Appl. -, OZ 14,718. filed Apr. 25. 1944.  FIAT Reel 172. frames 640-613: PB 25,616: Meyer Transl. PC-S-II. Fischer-Tropsch vol. 2. 1938. chap. 90. p. 44.

In producing oxygenated organic compounds besides hydrocarbons by the hydrogenation of CO in the presence of Fe catalysts at medium pressure and temperatures, the yield of higher alcohols can be greatly increased by using Fe catalysts, which contain 0.1-0.7% K or an equivalent amount of another alkali metal calculated on the dry catalyst.  Gives directions for preparing such precipitated and fused catalysts.
