      1458.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Process for the Conversion of Carbon Monoxide With Hydrogen.]  German Patent Appl. I 65,518. Aug. 28. 1939: OZ 11,747 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 162, frames 208-215: PB 68,923.

In a process for producing hydrocarbons with >1C atom in the molecule from CO and H2 in a converter in which the heat of conversion is conducted through the walls of the catalyst space into a cooling liquid, the CO and H2 gas passes through the converter at a linear flow velocity of > 0.1 m. per sec., preferably >0.6 m. per sec.  The ratio of the space velocity of the Synthesis gas in 1. per. hr. and per catalyst space to the depth of the catalyst layer in meters is maintained at not over 100.  The synthesis gas is circulated in a continuous cycle through the converter in such a way that the amount of cycle gas is at least 4-5 times that of the fresh gas.
