      1446.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Process for Removing Paraffin From Hydrocarbon Oils.]  German Patent Appl. I 75,994.  OZ 14,425, filed Oct. 9, 1945 (CL. IV d-12 o).  TOM Reel 17, item 36, frames 1,020-1,028.

In the deparaffining of hydrocarbon oils using selective solvents and separation of the crystallized paraffin at low temperature by filtration, use is made of wire sieves as filter material instead of cloth filters.  The method is said to be at least 3-5 times faster than when using cloth filters.  Sieves of Cu or stainless steel are suitable with 400-2,500 mesh per cm2.  Not >0.5-1% of paraffin will be found in the filtrate, and this can be easily recovered by means of a cloth filter or by centrifuging.
