            In separating the organic oxygenated products obtained by the reaction of CO and H2 with olefins from the catalyst metals or metal compounds dissolved therein, the compounds are treated in the presence of such materials as active C, kieselguhr, pumice, or the like, and at elevated temperature and pressure with H2.  Example:  An oxygenated product containing 0.11% of dissolved Co is heated with 10% of its weight of granulated active C for 3 hr. at 120º in the presence of H2 at 200 atm. pressure.  The Co content is reduced to 0.005%.
