      1442.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Process for Producing Water Gas or Synthesis Gas.}  German Patent Appl. I 74,150, OZ 13,939. Jan 20, 1943 (Cl. V-24 o).  FIAT Reel 169. frames 8,162-8,265: PB 25,613.

In making water gas or synthesis gas from carbonaceous material by gasification of solid fuels or by partial combustion of carbonaceous gases in presence of pure O2 or O2-enriched air, the necessary O2 is obtained in a known air separation plant with low- and high-pressure stages and the high-pressure air is cooled in an absorption refrigerating machine, which is operated by making use of the waste heat from the produced gas.  Example: Brown coal, low-temperature coke is gasified in a Winkler generator in the presence of 10,000 m.3 of O2 per hr.  The resulting 40,000 ft. 3 of water gas
