Valuable oils can be produced by esterfying aliphatic hydrocarbons with at least 3 C atoms, containing 2 or more primary alcohol groups, with fatty acids with at least 6 C atoms.  A mixture of fatty acids with straight chains and fatty acids with branched chains can be used as the esterfying agent.  Lubricants can be obtained by using the esters of fatty acids with at least 3 C atoms, which contain 2 or more primary alcohol groups, either alone or in a mixture with each other or with other lubricating agents particularly natural or synthetic hydrocarbon oils.  The mixture of alcohols and the fatty acids obtained through the conversion of CO with H2 may supply the raw materials for the process.
