     1431.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Process for Producing Hydrocarbons.]  German Patent Appl. I 67,690, OZ 12,316. filed Aug. 21, 1940 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 165, frames 3,511-3,515; PB 66,677; PB 25,609; Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch. vol. 7, chap. 191. 1950, p. 22.

In a process for producing hydrocarbons from CO and H2 at increased temperature in presence of Fe catalysts, temperature-resistant fibrous material, such as asbestos, is added to the catalyst to about 10% by weight of the Fe, or enough to produce a mass of high mechanical stability.  The best operating conditions for the synthesis appear to be 20 atm. pressure and 250º with a synthesis gas composition of 60% or more CO.  The reaction product consists of paraffin and middle oil with some gasoline.
