      1407.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Process for Conversion of Carbon Monoxide With Hydrogen.]  German Patent Appl. I 72,850, OZ 13,581. filed Aug. 1. 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 168. frames 7,023-7,025: PB 68,463 and PB 25,612: Meyer Transl. PC-S-II. Fischer-Tropsch. Vol. 7. chap. 187. 1950. p. 13.

In preparing Fe catalysts, the treatment of compact Fe with oxidizing gases is specified in German Patent 756,609 (abs. 1580).  Whereas in German Patent Appl. I 70,918 (abs. 2325) the oxidation of the Fe is promoted by addition of 30-70% of H2O vapor to the oxidizing gases.  It has now been found that porous Fe, such as used Fe catalysts, can be employed and the oxidation be performed in the presence of oxidizing gases to which H2O vapor is added.  These catalysts are said to have the same efficiency as the original catalyst.
