            Process of German Patent Appl. I 74,553 (abs. 1400) and I 75,540 (abs. 1206) is improved by adding to the waxy substances obtained by the oxidation of a 100º melting-point paraffin the salts of multivalent metals with products, which have been obtained by oxidizing aliphatic hydrocarbons melting >35º and containing at least 30%, acidic constituents.  The resulting products have the properties of hard wax and are suitable for making shoe polish, treating leather, preparing varnish, and processing synthetic resins.
