Mixtures of oxygenated organic compounds with hydrocarbons obtained by the conversion of CO with H₂ are subjected before heating to 250º to an extraction with a volatile agent such as MeOH, which absorbs selectively the oxygenated compounds. Repeated extractions considerably increase the recovery of alcohols-17.8% of the total products as against only 12.9% by distillation.
