      1347.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  Method for Converting Carbon Monoxide With Hydrogen.  German Patent Appl. -.OZ 11,499, filed Apr. 28, 1939.  TOM Reel 17, item 32, frames 848-854: Meyer Transl. PC-S-II.  Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 2. chap. 98, 1948. p. 71.

In removing the heat formed in the catalytic conversion of CO with H2 to hydrocarbons through direct heat exchange with a vaporizing cooling liquid, the vapor formed from the cooling liquid of the converter is condensed in a closed system, and the condensate is allowed to flow back into the cooling zone.  In carrying out the reaction in several converters, the vapor formed in the cooling zone of each converter after condensation in a special closed system, is returned again to this same zone, and the condensation in the individual closed systems is performed by heat exchange with a secondary vaporizer.  The temperature in the cooling zones of the converters is regulated by means of the vapor pressure in the condensation apparatus, preferably through automatic or manually operated valves in the lines between the cooling zones and the condensing apparatus.  The method described is particularly advantageous if a liquid other than H2O, diphenyl oxide, is used.  Shows a sketch of the apparatus.
