      1322.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE A. G.]  [Leather Treating Agent.]  German Patent Appl. I 77,311, OZ 14,729, filed May 3, 1944 (Cl. IV d-28 a).  FIAT Reel 171, frames 10,285-10,287; PB 25,615; Meyer Transl. PC-S-IV, Wax Oxidation, vol. 3, chap. 43, 1949, p. 22.

In preparing leather treating agents, mixtures of solid nonaromatic hydrocarbons or nonaromatic hydrocarbons solidifying from melts in solid form and liquid nonaromatic hydrocarbons b.>200º are incompletely oxidized.  The raw materials may consist of the gatsch residues from petroleum distillation or mixtures obtained by hydrogenating CO.  Example; Such a material, containing, besides solid paraffinic and naphtenic hydrocarbons, about 22% liquid nonaromatic lubricating constituents, is oxidized at 110º-116º with air in the presence of Mn stearate up to a specific gravity of 0.875-0.890 at 70º.  The melting point is about 45º.  The products are melted with whale oil or chlorinated kogasin and used to treat leather.
