      1319.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE A. G.]  [Iron Catalyst for the Synthesis Reaction.]  German Patent Appl. I 70,230, filed Aug. 9, 1941; OZ 12,937 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 172, frame 240; PB 25,616.  Bureau of Mines Transl. T-433, January 1948.

Fe-Cu-Al salt solution is precipitated slowly over a period of 48 hr. by means of potash solution.  The Fe precipitate is dried at 110º and reduced at 250º and ordinary pressure with a gas mixture consisting of 33% CO to 66% H2 and at a rate of 1,000-5,000 l. per l. of catalyst per hr.  After reduction, synthesis takes place at 193º, yielding 187 gm. of liquid and solid products, with 55% of the total product consisting of paraffin b.>320º.  By carrying out the reduction under 7 atm. pressure, synthesis at 205º produces per m.3 of reacting gas 175 gm. of liquid and solid products containing 70% paraffin.
