      1317.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE A. G.]  [Improving the Odor of Synthetic Fatty Acids.]  German Patent Appl. I 75,662, OZ 14,356, filed Aug. 9, 1943 (Cl. IV a-23 d).  FIAT Reel 170, frames 9,406-9,407; PB 64,246.

Odor of synthetic fatty acids can be improved by heating the crude acid obtained by the oxidation of nonaromatic hydrocarbons to 200º-250º for a short time under such  pressure conditions (beginning with about 100 mm. and gradually decreasing it) that no appreciable amount of the fatty acids distill off.  The fatty acids are then subjected in known manner to distillation under reduced pressure.
