            In producing products such as oils by the action of reducing gases at high temperature and pressure upon coal, tars, mineral oils, and like materials, apparatus in contact with the gases is made of metal not reacting with CO, for example, Cu, Ag, Al or its alloys, Cr, Mn, V, U steels or corresponding alloys of Ni, or Co containing Mn, Ti, Cr, W, V, or Mo.  Sn, Zn, Cd, Pb, and their alloys may be used for the cooler portions of the apparatus.
