      1306.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE A. G.]  [Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide.]  French Patent 644,147, Nov. 18, 1927.  Chem. Abs., vol. 23, 1929, p. 1728.

Yield of H2 and CO by the catalytic treatment of hydrocarbons is increased by removing organic as well as inorganic S compounds from the gases before treatment, for example, by passing them over a metallic mass, which will fix the S compounds or convert them into H2S.  In the conversion of the hydrocarbons elongated catalyst chambers made of Cr or Ni steel or alloys of Ni such as Cr-Ni are used, the walls of which are heated to <1,000º.
