      1303.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE A. G.]  Hydrocarbons from Carbon Oxides and Hydrogen.  British Patent 322,284, Dec. 27, 1929; appl. filed Oct. 11, 1928.  Chem. Abs., vol. 24, 1930, p. 2874.

Low-boiling-point and unsaturated hydrocarbons are obtained by treating gaseous mixtures of C oxides and H2 at elevated temperature and pressure with catalysts that contain metals of the 8th group of the periodic system, together with alkali metal compounds and small quantities of S, Se, or Te in a free or combined state.  Liquid products of olefinic character thus obtained can be used to prevent “knocking” in motor fuels for the manufacture of lubricating and insulating oils by condensation with use of AlCl3, B Fluoride, or the like, or for the production of benzene hydrocarbons, alcohols, glycols.  Gives examples with details of procedure.
