            Valuable hydrocarbons are made by hydrogenating under pressure coal, tars, and mineral oils with that fraction of the gases obtained by the distillation or gasification of coal or coke that is rich in H2.  That fraction of the gases rich in N2 is used for the production of NH3, and the waste gases resulting from the hydrogenation are used for the production of MeOH.
