Hydrocarbons, with or without oxygenated derivatives, are obtained by causing CO and H2 to react in presence of a catalyst obtained by the reaction of previously fused Fe3O4 with a reducing gas at >300°.  The catalyst may also contain compounds of Si, Ti, heavy metals, Ni, Co, and/or alkali metals.  The reaction may be effected at 275°-425°.
