            Products obtained by the destructive oxidation of difficulty volatile hydrocarbon materials such as paraffin wax or paraffin oil are subjected to destructive hydrogenation under pressure, suitably at 100°-250° under pressures of 10-300 atm. in the presence of a Ni catalyst.  Gives several examples with details of procedure.
