Carboxylic acid esters are made from aliphatic alcohols and carboxylic acids by using such alcohols as are produced by the reaction between CO and H₂ and olefins with at least 4 C atoms in the molecule under pressure in presence of catalysts and finally by hydrogenation of the resulting oxo-compounds.
