1192.  ------.[I. G. Farbenindustrie, A. G. Alcohols]  Catalytic Production of Oxygenated Organic Compounds From Oxides of Carbon and Hydrogen.  British Patent 317,808, May 18, 1928.  Chem. Abs., vol. 24, 1930, p. 2137.

Organic compounds such as MeOH, EtOH and higher alcohols, acids, esters, ketones, or fats are prepared by treating gaseous mixtures comprising C oxides and a quantity of H2 or gas containing H2 greater than that of the CO present at a pressure above 20 atm., with a catalyst comprising a mixture of an element from the 1st subgroup of the periodic system and a large quantity of an element from the 8th group of the periodic system and preferably from the Fe group (suitable with the further addition of <5% of a metal forming a difficulty reducible oxide) such, for example, as may be prepared by depositing Fe(NO3)3, Cu(NO3)2, and a small quantity of K2CO3 on pumice stone, calcining, and reducing with H2.  Gives other examples.
