            Oxides of C are passed with H2 over an Fe catalyst containing small additions of alkalies and alkaline earths at a temperature below 300º, suitably about 200º, either under ordinary pressure or under reduced or slightly increased pressure.  The products may comprise resinous, O-containing substances; paraffinic compounds; oily liquids; alcohol; and aqueous solution of organic acids.
