            Catalytic conversion of mixtures of hydrocarbons with water vapor or CO₂ into H₂ and CO is effected in elongated chambers in which the catalyst is indirectly heated to 600º-1.000º.  The reaction mixture is preferably preliminary freed from S compounds by passing over heated metallic oxides.  Describes an apparatus.
