            In producing hydrocarbons or their derivatives by reaction of C oxides with H₂ at ordinary, reduced, or increased pressure, metallic catalysts are used such as Fe, Co, Ni, an Mo, which are prepared by thermal decomposition of the corresponding metal carbonyl.  Gives various details.
