            Gases containing CH4, C2H6, unsaturated hydrocarbons, and higher homologs of the paraffin series are hydrogentated at 500º-900º under pressure up to 1,000 atm. and Co is added.  The carbonated and other salts of the alkaline earths, mainly Mg and Be, their oxides or hydroxides, and Se, Te, Th compounds, active SiO2, or C or mixtures of them are used as catalysts.  Raw materials may be brown-coal gas, oil gas, coke-oven gas, low-temperature carbonization gas and natural gas.  Benzol hydrocarbons are obtained.
