      1141.  ------.[I. G. Farbenindustrie, A. G. Alcohols]  Apparatus for Effecting Reactions With hydrogen Under Pressure.  British Patent 341,153, Oct. 30, 1929.  Chem. Abs., vol. 25, 1931, p. 3880.

Apparatus for reactions such as NH3 synthesis, MeOH synthesis, or destructive hydrogenation of oil is formed of or coated with Zn alloys in those parts of the apparatus that come into contact with the hot reacting materials.  Along with the Zn, the alloys may also contain Cu, Mn, Ni, Fe, Co, Al, or Ag.  In destructive hydrogenations with raw materials high in S, enough H2 should be used that the reaction mixture does not contain >2-3% by vol. of S compounds.  Describes various structural details of apparatus.
