      1094.  HOUDRY, E. J.  (Houdry Process Corp.).  Catalytic Apparatus and Processes.  British Patent 471,930, Sept. 13, 1937.  Chem. Abs., vol. 32, 1933, p. 1144.

In effecting catalytic reactions in a converter having conduits for temperature-controlling fluid in indirect heat exchange with the catalyst, as described in British Patent 449,050 (abs. 1097), the reactants are admitted at substantially reaction temperature and heat-conducting elements are disposed in all parts of the contact mass to convey heat to or from the said conduits.  The invention is applicable to endothermic or exothermic reaction, for example, NH3 synthesis, SO3 production, and catalyst regeneration.
