            Aliphatic hydrocarbons are subjected to the action of CO in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3 at temperature <100º under pressure.  Gives several examples.  In one, normal C5H12, CO and AlCl3 are heated to 60º in a high-pressure bomb at 120-150 atm.  The product includes a carboxylic acid C6H12O2, b. 190º-191º, and a ketone C6H12O, b. 114º-116º.
