1083.  ------.  [HOGAN, J. P., AND FRIEDMAN, A. H.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.). Two Stage Process for the Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,483,771.  Oct. 4, 1949; appl. Filed Jan. 2, 1948, Serial No. 291: 9 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).  Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950. p. 1673.

Exit gases from the fluid solids hydrocarbon synthesis reactor are freed of the bulk of entrained catalysts in gas solids separators, then they pass to an oil scrubbing device where the exit gas is freed of catalytic fines.  The oil and catalyst fines then pass to a centrifugal separator, and the resulting slurry passes to a Dorr thickener.  The purified scrubber oil is returned to the scrubber.  The thickened catalyst-oil stream is sent to a liquid or foam phase hydrocarbon synthesis unit.  The catalyst fines are particularly rich in promoter.  The invention provides a particularly attractive method for manufacturing high-melting paraffin waxes with m. p. 200°-250° F.  3 United States patents cited.
