      1080.  HOLDER, C. H.  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Hydrocarbon Synthesis. United States Patent 2,530,243, Nov. 14, 1950; appl. filed Sept. 7, 1946, Serial No. 695,525; 1 claim (Cl. 260-449.6).  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 1751.

Character of product gases is controlled by controlling the C content of the catalyst in the reaction zone.  As the C content increases, the catalyst particles become more buoyant and tend to concentrate in the upper packed area of the reactor.  The buoyant catalyst particles are withdrawn from the upper packed area, regenerated, and returned at a point lower in the reactor in an area free of packing elements.  The packing should provide interstices having a length as compared to diameter of not greater than 15 : 1; also it should be at least 10 times as long as the largest particle to be fluidized.  6 United States patens cited.
