Hydrocarbon Synthesis catalyst, the catalytic activity of which is decreased by deposition of reaction products thereon, is regenerated by interrupting the flow of synthesis gas to the reaction zone and recycling the tail gases thereto after separating therefrom the C3 and higher boiling reaction products.  The method is applicable to both fluidized and fixed catalyst beds and requires 1-3 hr. for completion.
