      1066.  ------.  [HOCKBERGER, W. G.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Hydrocarbon Synthesis.  United States Patent 2,545,954, Mar. 20, 1951; appl. filed June 11, 1947, Serial No. 754,029; 5 claims (Cl. 260-450).  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 4912.

Total oil including gasoline and gas oil range hydrocarbons produced from CO and H2 is treated with bauxite at conditions of temperature, pressure, and throughput that cause cracking of the gas-oil constituents.  The temperature is 800º-1,000º F., pressure 1-10 atm. absolute, and throughput 0.5-2 vol. liquid feed per vol. bauxite.  The bauxite is regenerated wither continuously or at intervals considerable more frequent than in conventional bauxite reforming of gasoline-range hydrocarbons.  Steam added to the feed will prevent excessive C deposition on the bauxite.  Steam concentrations of 20-70 mol. % are suitable.  1 foreign and 2 United States patents cited.
