To separate by distillation oxygenated organic compounds from the mixture of hydrocarbons obtained as product of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, the latter is passed over a mixture of the alkali salts of mineral oil sulfonates of a lubricating oil or a lubricating oil extract and an alkali hydroxide. The hydrocarbon distillate passes over virtually free from oxygenated compounds.
