1011.  ------. [HERBERT, W].  [Converting Olefinic Hydrocarbons of Low Molecular Weight Into Compounds of Higher Molecular Weight.]  German Patent 748,156,  Oct. 28, 1944; appl. M 139,536, Oct. 20, 1937 (Cl. 12 o-1.03).  FIAT Reel J-5, frames 9-12; PB 70,145; FIAT Reel AA 90, frames 1,589-1,594; PB 70,275.

Olefinic hydrocarbon mixtures, particularly those obtained by the hydrogenation of CO are treated with CO or with gases containing them, if desired under pressure and with recirculation of the reaction gases, with paraffin-forming catalysts at temperatures < 300°, in converters in which the catalysts are washed with a cooling agent.  The hydrocarbons in the gases leaving the reactor are separated into high- and low-boiling fractions and the latter recirculated.  Polymerizing catalyst may be used along with the paraffin-forming catalyst of may be placed after it.  The cooling agent may be the synthetic benzine from the process.
