            Example: An Alcohol-hydrocarbon mixture from the treatment of olefins with CO and H2, b. 250º-370º, and having an alcohol content of 43% is heated in amounts of 2,4000 parts with 30 of NaOH to boiling until 45 parts of H2O are separated.  1,375 parts of hydrocarbons and 926 of an alcohol fraction are obtained, b. 200º-285º at 12 mm. Hg.  The average OH number is 123 and the average C-atom number is 26-34.  The viscous oil is suitable for cosmetics.
