            Higher aliphatic hydrocarbons, for example, solid and liquid paraffins, higher hydrocarbons from the ebnzine synthesism are oxidized by O2 or oxidizing agents, for example, O3, N oxides, with or without the use of catalysts, for example, Mn, Co, Cu, Fe, Cr, Pb, V or their salts, Al salts with or without alkalies, alkaline earths or their salts, and fresh material is continuously saponified, and the unsaponified matter is continuously separated by centrifuging and returned to the oxidation process.  The catalysts may be present as soaps of saturated or unsaturated fatty acids, naphthenic acids, or resinic acids.  Catalysts may be omitted if some previously oxidized material is present.  The separated soap my be freed from remaining unsaponifiable material by treatment with solvents, for example, Me2CO, AcOEt.  Describes apparatus.
