      985.  ------.  [HEMMINGER, C. E.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,518,315, Aug. 8, 1950: appl. filed Mar. 21, 1947, Serial No. 736,151; 2 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 854.

Yields of more than 200 cc. C3+ hydrocarbons containing 60-75% gasoline, b. 100º-400º F. with research octane number of at least 80, may be obtained per m.3 synthesis gas.  The fluidized Fe catalyst is prepared from pyrites or sintered pure Fe and promoted with 0.1-1.5%, preferably 0.6-0.9%, K, expressed as % K2O on Fe2O3.  The temperature is 700º-850º F., preferably 700º-750º F.  The pressure is 150-1,500 p. s. i., preferably 200-400 p. s. i.  The feed-gas rate is about 20-50 n ft.3 synthesis gas per lb. of catalyst per hr.  The H2 : C) ratio is about 0.7-1.9.  The exit gases are recycled to the reactor in amount of 0-3, preferably 0-1.0 vol. per vol. of fresh feed gas.  2 literature refs. and 3 United States patents cited.
