      964.  ------.  [HEINRICH, R. L.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Removal of Oxygenated Compounds From Olefins.  United States Patent 2,542,516, Feb. 20, 1951; appl. filed Oct. 11, 1947, Serial No. 779,285, 6 claims (Cl. 260-683.15).  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 4440.

Oxygenated compounds are removed from olefins in the naptha-boiling range produced by the Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbon synthesis by treatment at 60º-100º F. with AlCl3 containing 0.1-2 mol. % H2O.  The olefins treated in this way can be polymerized to lubricating oils with AlCl3, and the resulting sludge can serve as the treating agent for removing oxygenated compounds.
