      962.  HEINRICH, R. L.  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Olefin Polymerization Feed Stock.  United States Patent 2,570,032, Oct. 2, 1951; appl. June 23, 1948, Serial No. 34,832; 6 claims (Cl. 260-683.15).  Chem. Abs., vol. 46, 1952, p. 1748.

Mixtures of olefins, hydrocarbons, and oxygenated organic compounds, such as the reaction products from a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, are treated with H2S, which contains a small amount of gaseous HCl as catalyst at 5º-120º for 1 min.-6 hr.  The oxygenated compounds form high-boiling compounds which are readily separated from the olefins and other hydrocarbons.  The olefin-containing fraction is suitable for polymerization with a Friedel-Krafts catalyst.
