            Dilute acid solutions are reacted with a Bi compound, preferably an oxide, or a mixture of Bi compounds in the case of acetic acid, a basic Bi acetate is precipitated, which, after ordinary drying, has the formula BiOAc.  The acids are regenerated from the Bi fatty acid salt precipitate and recovered in commercial strengths.  2 literature refs. cited.
