This patent refers to regeneration of used catalyst by washing with a solvent to remove wax and the like deposited contaminants.  The catalyst is of the fluidized, suspended type, the activity of which is maintained by gradually withdrawing the contaminated portion, washing it with a solvent, and then discharging it into a settling zone where water is added, the solvent removed, and the water-catalyst slurry returned to the reactor.  The slurry is fed directly to the reaction zone at a rate responsive to the temperatures existing in the reaction zone, thus utilizing the water to control the temperature therein.
