            Diethyl ketone is synthesized by heating a mixture of C2H4, CO, and H2 containing initially more than 1 molecule of C2H4 per mol. of H2 and having an initial CO : H2 molal ratio of from about 5 : 1-20 : 1 at a reaction temperature of about 50º-350º in the presence of a Co catalyst under a pressure of 325-1,500 atm., and thereafter separating diethyl ketone from the reaction product.
