      835.  GRAHME, J. H.  (Texaco Development Corp.).  Catalytic Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.  Canadian Patent 464,546, Apr. 18, 1950; appl. filed Aug. 28, 1947, Serial No. 563,858; in the United States Sept. 19, 1946, 13 claims.

Hot synthesis gas is passed in heat-exchange relation with a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst until the latter is heated to an elevated conversion temperature.  The synthesis gas is then passed over the synthesis catalyst to promote the direct synthesis of normally liquid hydrocarbons.  The hydrocarbon conversion catalyst is withdrawn from the synthesis gas stream, and a portion of the synthesis hydrocarbons is passed over it until the hydrocarbons are converted.  The converted liquid hydrocarbons are recovered and the normally gaseous hydrocarbon products of conversion recycled to the synthesis catalyst in admixture with the synthesis-gas feeds.
