      789.  GEL’MS., I. E.  [Removal of Ceresin From the Catalyst for the Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.]  Russian Patent 66,906, Aug. 31, 1946.  Chem. Abs., vol. 41, 1947. p. 4634.

The synthesis of hydrocarbons from water gas is hampered by deposition of ceresin on the catalyst.  This ceresin is readily removed by passing alkali-containing water gas and synthol alternately over the catalyst.  Preferably the synthol is used in quantities sufficient to remove the ceresin only from the lower part of the catalyst.
