      776.  ------.  [GARRISON, A. D.]  (Texaco Development Corp.).  Preparation of Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide Gas Mixtures.  United States Patent 2,621,117.  Dec. 9, 1952; appl. filed Mar. 11, 1947. Serial No. 733,838. 8 claims (Cl. 48-196).  Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953, p. 2964.

Synthesis gas is produced by reaction of carbonaceous reactant with O2.  A stream of the O2-containing gas is charged to the reaction zone.  A stream of carbonaceous reactant is charged to the reaction zone annularly about the O2 stream to surround the O2 stream.  The carbonaceous material is in sufficient amount to react with all of the O2 with formation of completely oxidized reaction products.  An additional stream of carbonaceous reactant is charged to the reaction zone into intimate contact with reaction products immediately following their formation.  These react to form a final product gas.  13 United States patents cited.
