      756.  FROELECKE, E., LÜBEN, R., MEYER, K., AND SCHALLER, P.  (Ruhrchemie A. G.)  [Separation of Thorium From Material Containing Iron and Thorium.]  French Patent 847,409.  Oct. 10, 1939; appl. filed Dec. 12, 1938.  Chem. Abs., vol. 35, 1941, p. 5084.

             To the acid solution of the metals is added an excess of alkali carbonate.  The Fe and some of the Th is precipitated.  The precipitate is dissolved and reprecipitated.  All but about 0.4% of Th is obtained in solution.  The Th is then precipitated by boiling with a little NaOH.  The first precipitation is at 40º-50º, the second at 80º-90º.
